2025 is just around the corner, and trends in IT and skills development point in one clear direction: security, cloud technology, and artificial intelligence will dominate. Regardless of the field, the need for continuous training and strategic skill development is greater than ever. At the same time, recruitment trends give us a clear picture of which skills will be most in demand in the coming year. Here are the key trends for 2025!

IT Infrastructure 2025: Security, Cloud, and AI in Harmony
IT infrastructure is evolving rapidly, and trends for 2025 highlight several key areas. Security and compliance take center stage, with growing demand for expertise in Microsoft Security solutions such as Microsoft Entra (Identity), Azure Security, and Microsoft Sentinel. General IT security is expanding in threat management, governance, and security operations. Interest in courses on Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Azure Networking, and modernizing hybrid cloud solutions is also on the rise.
AI expertise in integration and automation within infrastructure, particularly through Microsoft Copilot, is a key focus for the future. AI-driven automation will play a critical role in the operation and monitoring of both on-premises and cloud-based environments. By 2025, Copilot solutions, integrated across platforms like Azure AI Services, Microsoft 365, and Power Platform, will provide users with smarter tools for work and decision-making.
Developer Competence 2025: Cloud, Security, and Generative AI in Focus
The technologies and everyday realities that developers must navigate are evolving at an ever-increasing pace, driving the need for continuous skill development.
Cloud technology, artificial intelligence, and security have been key focus areas for our clients. Organizations are continuing their migration to cloud platforms, with Azure leading the way, AWS as a strong second choice, and Google Cloud as a third option.
Governance, Security, and Strategy: Project Management and Methodology in 2025
Adhering to best practices remains a popular approach. There is significant growth in courses and certifications within security and governance. Many companies take the security of their own and their customers’ data seriously. Information security, NIS2, DORA, and GDPR were the fastest-growing areas last year, and we expect continued growth in 2025. At the same time, traditional frameworks for project management and IT Service Management are experiencing steady growth in 2024 and are anticipated to remain popular in 2025.
Business architecture, with the well-known TOGAF framework, holds a strong position in Norway, and we are also seeing increased interest in the modeling language ArchiMate.
AI and Automation: The Key to Digital Maturity in 2025
In 2024, we have seen a significant focus on enhancing employees' digital skills, particularly in Artificial Intelligence. This need will only intensify in 2025.
Many still require foundational knowledge of AI, including relevant use cases and how to apply AI responsibly and securely. Additionally, there is growing demand for training in the use of various AI tools like Copilot and understanding how these can be effectively leveraged to boost productivity in specific industries, roles, and tasks.
In 2025, the need to understand automation and the use of low-code/no-code platforms like Power Platform for developing custom solutions and creating automated processes will also grow. As technology evolves rapidly, continuous training will be essential to keep employees updated on new features and best practices.
Recruitment 2025: Trends, Needs, and AI Competence
Two years ago, newly graduated IT students were almost headhunted directly from school. However, 2024 marked a shift, with increased competition for jobs among new IT graduates. Many companies used 2024 as a pause year for recruiting graduates and juniors. The demand for senior professionals has remained relatively stable across most disciplines throughout 2024, and this trend is expected to continue.
AI has been a major talking point, yet pure AI roles remain relatively few.
The first major AI studies from the United States show that software developers who use AI are 25% more productive than those who do not. At the same time, companies and developers have not yet acquired sufficient knowledge about secure AI development and secure coding. When we start to see stories in the media about companies that have not taken this seriously enough, we can expect secure coding to become an increasingly important skill requirement and area of focus.
Speaking of development, developers were the most recruited professionals in 2024, and we expect the same trend to continue in 2025. At the same time, we believe that the job market for IT specialists will marginally improve in 2025.
Beyond the competencies mentioned above, we do not anticipate significant changes in skill requirements compared to 2024.
